Paint Protection Film

Clear self-healing UltraFit PPF. Priced by vehicle.

What Is Paint Protection Film?

PPF is a clear, tough urethane film that we fit over your car’s paint. It takes the rock chips, light scratches, bug splatter and bird droppings, so your factory paint doesn’t have to. Most people can’t tell it’s there, and your car just looks like itself, only glossier.

People also call it clear bra. It is the same product under a different name.

Here in the South Bay, a lot of driving means 101, 280 and 87 behind trucks and through construction zones, which is exactly where chips come from. A chip can’t really be touched up, and repainting a panel costs far more than protecting it. PPF lets you drive the car you love without wincing every time a pebble hits the hood.

Visit us at 193 Barnard Ave, Unit 1, San Jose, CA 95125 or call (408) 823-9378.

Is PPF worth it?

Yes. Around San Jose, rock chips from 101, 280, and 87 add up fast, and a single hood or bumper repaint often costs more than protecting the front end in the first place. Self-healing PPF from XPEL and UltraFit takes those hits instead of your factory paint, keeps the finish looking new, and helps protect resale value. Compared with years of touch-ups, panel work, and trade-in deductions, film is the cheaper way to keep the car you love looking the way it should.

Paint Protection Film FAQ

PPF is priced by vehicle — get a quote. Cost depends on coverage (Partial, Full Front, Track Package, or Full Body), the size and shape of the vehicle, and whether the paint needs correction before the film goes on. Call or text us at (408) 823-9378 or use Get a Quote and we’ll put together a quote for your car.

Clear bra is paint protection film. It is a clear urethane layer fitted over your paint to stop rock chips, light scratches, and stains. At SV Auto Pros we install premium clear bra / PPF from XPEL and UltraFit, backed by a 10-year film warranty.
Yes. PPF and clear bra mean the same protection. Clear bra started as a nickname for film on the front of the car. Today both names refer to modern self-healing paint protection film. We can quote Partial, Full Front, Track, or Full Body for your vehicle.

With good care, premium film like UltraFit and XPEL is built to last for years, and our PPF installs are backed by a 10-year warranty. If a high-impact piece like the front bumper ever wears out, we can replace just that piece instead of redoing the whole car.

PPF is a physical layer that stops rock chips and scratches. A ceramic coating is a thin, slick layer that adds gloss and makes the car much easier to wash, but it won’t stop chips. Many of our customers get both: PPF on the areas that take hits, and ceramic coating for shine and easy cleaning. Ask us which combination fits your car.

On a clean install, most people can’t tell the film is there from normal viewing distance. You may spot an edge up close, especially on partial coverage. Today’s premium films use UV-resistant topcoats made to stay clear in strong sun, and washing off bird droppings, bugs and sap quickly keeps the film from staining.

Yes, within limits. Light swirls and fine scratches disappear with heat from a warm day, the engine, or warm water. A deep scratch or rock strike that cuts through the topcoat won’t heal, and that piece may need replacing. Even then, better the film than your paint.

Wait 3 days before the first wash so the film can settle (rain is fine), and don’t pick at the edges. Hand wash with a pH-neutral soap and a clean microfiber mitt. Skip automatic and brush car washes. If you use a pressure washer, keep it at least 12 inches back and never aim it at the film edges. Clean off bird droppings, bugs, sap and tar quickly. Then come back for a quick 3–4 week follow-up check so we can look over the film.

It depends on the coverage, the car, and whether we do any paint correction first. We’ll give you a clear drop-off and pick-up time when you book.

Yes, we install PPF on motorcycles as well as cars. Popular spots are the tank, where knees, boots and zippers rub, plus fenders, fairings and anything up front that catches road debris.

Our PPF installs are backed by a 10-year warranty on the film. Our 1-year labor/workmanship warranty also covers issues like lifting and bubbling. If anything doesn’t look right, call us first — we installed it, and we’ll take care of you.

New is ideal, because you’re protecting the paint before it picks up its first chips. A used car is fine too, but chips and swirls get sealed under the film, so most owners have us do some paint correction first. If a panel was recently repainted, let us know, since fresh paint needs time to cure before film goes on.
